Pasadena's Neon Retro Arcade is one of several nostalgia arcades that have popped up around Los Angeles recently – and although the $10/hour fee is a little too steep to do regularly, it's a real treat every once in awhile. Not only does it bring me back to my 1980s childhood (playing Pac-Man, QBert, Donkey Kong, Galaga, etc.), but it's quite fun to share that heritage with the Blogger Boys – and they get a kick out of the old stuff as well.
For $10, you get unlimited access to the video games and pinball machines for an hour – and most of the classic games are all here. (Depending on the crowd, you may have to wait for a turn at some of the more popular games, but there are enough games to go around.) On the weekend, birthday parties make things a bit crowded. It's funny to think that going to an arcade is a welcome respite from watching your zombie kids on their screens at home, but at least you're getting out of the house!
